The man who put the gold souq in your pocket
Saqib Munir grew up around gold — a family business of bullion and jewellery serving Kuwait for decades. But he also watched something else: honest, hard-working families losing purchasing power year after year, simply because their savings sat in paper. In 2020, he decided the answer was hiding in plain sight, in the display cases of Mubarakiya.
"Our mission is to democratize gold investments by making them accessible, affordable, and secure for everyone. GoldBank is engineered to make investing in gold as simple as mobile banking."
That conviction became the GoldBank Wallet — a platform where anyone, from a student saving KD 1 a week to a family securing its legacy, could own real 999.9 gold with the tap of a thumb. "Our idea," he says, "is to protect against inflation and maintain purchasing power." Not by promising returns. By selling the one asset that has never, in five thousand years, been worth nothing.
Under his leadership, GoldBank has grown from a single store in the Al Raya Gold Complex to a network of trusted partner houses across Mubarakiya and Fahaheel, a presence in Dubai, and a mobile app used across the GCC — while keeping the thing that mattered most in the souq: you can always walk in, look the gold in the eye, and take it home.
