Saqib Munir grew up around gold. His family's trade in bullion and jewellery served Kuwait for decades from the historic Mubarakiya gold souq — a world where purity is checked by eye, value is weighed by hand, and a merchant's word is his bond.

But alongside the souq's timeless rituals, he watched a modern problem grow: honest, hard-working families losing purchasing power year after year, simply because their savings sat in paper.
